Swan

Often I seem to have doubts as to how good my Canon 5d Mk2 is when compared
to my ‘classic 5D’ – which I still have. Often the images appear rather
flat and noisy, and lacking in punch. And then yesterday I took this, which
is quite the reverse!

A little fishing boat

At Portpatrick, Dumfries & Galloway. Not often you see wooden fishing boats
these days…..sort of sweet.

Robin looking for a mate

From swan to robins…..what a size difference! This was taken at 4.30pm
this afternoon. He was near the top of a 5 metre high bush, so it was very
hard to get a clear shot of him. The light was beautiful, so I trudged back
into the house for the camera, and thankfully he was still there when I got
back. Shot with the 300mm which, after a period of uncertainty, I’m
beginning to quite like.

Our family of swans has decided that it’s much quicker to fly towards the
food than swim. This is the male adult…….quite daunting to see him
coming towards you at speed!
